Bill Younger

The leader of Trapped in a Rumor was born a month after Bill (I) could legally drink (in the US). Put in other words, by the time Joe could legally drink, I already had 21 years experience legally drinking. Sure, now you're thinking "Bill must drink a lot" - but you're wrong, unless you mean fluids in general and not specifically alcohol - in which case you missed the point of the drinking age milestone. Joe's 30. Apply a little algebra, and you've got my age.

But age isn't what it used to be. 51 years ago if you were 51, you'd be really old - which means by now you'd be dead, or at least look and smell like it. Nowadays, 51-year-olds look and smell like 38-year-olds used to 50 years ago (you know, the better smelling 38-year-olds of the late 50s...not the smokers, alcoholics or dairy-farmers).

My calling to Improv came as I realized that most of today's top entertainers honed their chops in Improv. I'm a drummer - which means I'm an entertainer - and I thought "hmmm...(I start most of my thoughs with hmmm and three dots), I better check this out". I did. I found out that Improv was to your wit what the gym is to your body (which is just guessing - since I've never been to a gym).

If more people knew how energizing and enlivening Improv was and if they knew how stimulating to your imagination and creativity it was - then venues like Under the Sun would be overrun. (Of course, the other impediment to Improv's popularity is that you have to have the balls to keep at it even after you realize your wit is as pathetic and out of shape as the body of a data-entry specialist who gets paid in cream-cheese).

The two most common reactions to trying Improv are: 1-This is so great, and 2-I suck at this. The folks that stay realize that Improv is so cool that they don't want to suck at it - you know, kind of like life. Oh - this was supposed to be a bio?...damn - they're kicking me out of the library....
