Trapped In A Rumor is an Improv Company based out of the East Bay that performs improvisational community theatre. We are live, unscripted, and unpredictable. If you've ever seen 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' then you already know a bit of what we're about. Short form improv is comprised of brief, unrelated scenes with actors who are spontaneously called onstage and then given games or characters to play out on the spot. Now here's where you come in. Most of the time we take our leads from the audience, so a smart and sassy group is key for a great show. Keep in mind that performances of Trapped In A Rumor are PG-13 unless otherwise advertised. When you come to see us be prepared to participate! We're counting on your suggestions, your laughs, and your luster! What happens next is anybody's guess.
The performances of Trapped In A Rumor are generally PG-13, unless otherwise advertised. A smart and sassy audience makes for a great show, as we take our inspirations from you, so when you come to see us perform, be prepared to make suggestions, to laugh and to have the time of your life! We're counting on you guys!
Trapped In A Rumor is honored that the Town of Danville has provided us with a Full Co-sponsorship. We are grateful for the weekly rehearsal space they have provided us and consider ourselves blessed to be performing 12 shows this year in the historic Village Theatre.
Trapped In A Rumor is proud to be donating the majority of the profits from our shows to charity. We feel it is our duty in these times of need to help those less fortunate than us any way we can.
Over the last five years, the Town’s Village Theatre has been home to a variety of comedy shows which were hosted by outside user groups. These shows have filled theatre seats and provided an entertainment alternative to traditional theatre performances. Hosting of an improvisational comedy troupe (Trapped In A Rumor) will meet the interests for this type of entertainment, provide a monthly entertainment destination, and provide fundraising opportunities for local community organizations.
Trapped In A Rumor is proud to announce that its share of the proceeds from their August show, Mental Vacation, will go to the Eugene O'Neill Foundation!
With your ticket purchase, you'll be helping a great cause! The mission of the Eugene O'Neill Foundation, Tao House, is to celebrate and promote the vision and legacy of Eugene O'Neill, America's foremost playwright.
The Eugene O'Neill Foundation, Tao House was established for the purpose of acquiring the house and developing the site into a center for performing arts and study. Scholars of the theatre agree that O'Neill can be ranked, along with Shakespeare and Shaw, as one of the three greatest playwrights in the English-speaking world. O'Neill received four Purlitzer Prizes for his work and is the only American playwright to have been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.
On October 19, 1976, President Gerald Ford signed SB 2398, calling for the establishment of the Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site into law. Tao House officially became the property of the federal government on June 12, 1980.
The enabling legislation stipulated that the National Park Service is responsible for operation, maintenance and public programs. The Eugene O'Neill Foundation, Tao House is responsible for artistic and educational programs. The National Park Service's General Management Plan, signed into the Federal Register in 1991 describes the plans for the site: small scale theatrical performances, an artist in residence program, full public access, seminars and interpretive tours. Through the efforts of the Foundation, Tao House became a National Historic Site. The National Park Service has shown tremendous commitment to the project and has restored the house to its original design.
Join for a fun filled evening and help a great cause!
